About me:
I play the cello, guitar and piano and have a range of listening and compositional interests. I studied music as an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina and have since been involved in promoting music education for low-income children through City Year in San Jose, Calif., and London, England.
What does music mean to you?
Externally, a universal language that has connected me to others; internally, a vocabulary for meditation.
Why is the music-based service movement important to you?
I believe music is the most powerful path to people transcending their differences and reveling together in the beauty of the world.

Where I serve:
I currently work on the staff of City Year London, a non-profit that empowers 18-25 year olds to become leaders in their community and mentor children in underserved elementary schools.
My service mission:
To find and inspire people dedicated to helping others across the US in order to show that service is meaningful, feasible and vital for every community.

Support music service across America!

Next August I'll embark on a year-long project that supports goodwill-driven organizations in every state in the U.S. and Washington, D.C. Along the way I'll support various music service initiatives including Music National Service and several El Sistema-inspired initiatives.

Please support this project! We need to raise $10K by Feb. 13, and I am working with groups around the country to organize the 51 sub-projects. There is a lot of scope for music service folks to unite!…

Collaborate on my year-long project!

Ten months of service with City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley made me realize just how much young people are capable of, and how powerful an impact can be made when a group of diverse, idealistic thinkers work together. Far from draining my will to fight the uphill battles of social equality, it enriched my desire and tripled my belief in my own ability to change the world.
