I am finishing my last term as an AmeriCorps VISTA.
I have always been committed to creating alliances and partnerships within music the arts that strengthen and broaden the perspective of our community. Our past performance was entitled “Eterno” which means ageless in Italian, was an inter-generational ballet danced live to the Yavapai College Symphony. It was a collaborative between The Retiree Connection, The Dance Studio, The Casa Belles and The Yavapai College Music Department. This ballet encouraged the development of meaningful relationships across generations.
What does music mean to you?
Music leads my artistic vision, instructs me on how to create sets, choreography and wake up an audience, bring them to their feet and change the world one student at a time.
Why is the music-based service movement important to you?
We mentor children in academics but not in the deepest sense of their own creativity. Music and performance allows students to free themselves and be a part of a universal language without restrictions.
