Hey, I'm new to the area and am having trouble finding good acoustic venues/coffee shops for a solo act.  Anyone know of a good spot I need to check out?  Thanks!Hector AnchondoContinue

Profile Information

About me:
I've been playing guitar, singing, writing, and performing since I was 16. I grew up in Missouri on a farm so I had plenty of time to practice. I moved to Omaha, NE in 1999 and started to put together my rock, latin, ska, reggae band Anchondo. Since then I've gone on to play many festivals; like SXSW, also opening up for national acts; like Stix, as well as recording 5 albums and touring all over the country. Currently, I'm a part of Redbird records and just finished up my latest solo project. It's my first blues record.
What does music mean to you?
Music has changed my life. I started playing when I was 16 and I had a lot of trouble in school and had problems with Dyslexia and ADD and thought I wasn't as smart as the other kids. Through discovering music I discovered that I can do great things and that I was just as smart as anyone else.

I've gone on to achieve a lot of great things through music like; releasing five albums and playing SXSW music festival for many years.

It also led me to my love of teaching and helping other young kids discover that they can do great things too.
Why is the music-based service movement important to you?
I think all children should have the opportunities to play music because it has such a powerful positive impact on their lives and is a huge injustice to let any child go without it. Music has a positive impact on not only young but older people as well, I think through music anyone can add much more joy to their lives.

Wonderful to welcome you Hector!

I have always wanted to go out to SXSW one of these years! Would be great to hear your eclectic groove you've got going on!

Have a good one!
