- I am a Board Certified music therapist of thirteen years and recently earned my master's in music therapy at the University of the Pacific, researching the use of rhythm to rehabilitate arm hemiparesis in survivors of stroke.

- Music has saved my life many times, and I am immensely grateful for its existence.

- I have seen music transform people and difficult situations many times, and I believe that everyone deserves to engage in interaction with music.

- I serve older veterans at the Community Living Center at the VA. I strive to bring healing and growth to people through creative, fun musical interventions to address motor, cognitive, social, and communication skills (1:1 and group setting).

Transformations in Unlikely Places

So I started at the VA in San Francisco just two weeks ago as a music therapy fellow with MusicianCorps, and it's been one long blur of logistics and bureaucracy that I don't need to bore you with. Let's just say that getting something done at the VA reminds me of trying to buy vodka for my host family in Russia right after the Soviet Union fell: you had to wait in a long line in order to get a number, another line to choose your item, and a last line to pay for it a good two hours…
