Singer/songwriter (www.jessirosemusic.com), instrumentalist (performance degree in flute, also - hand drums, ukulele, piano, guitar, voice, etc.), music therapist, performer, and music advocate. I am a full-time music therapist on an adult psychiatric ward in the greater Los Angeles area.
What does music mean to you?
I am a musician, a music therapist, and an advocate for music's not only artistic and entertainment value, but intrinsic therapeutic and transformative healing qualities, as well. Music has saved my life.
Why is the music-based service movement important to you?
The Music National Service movement is important to me because it is organizing talented and civic-minded musicians to bring their craft into situations that need it the most, which is not just an idea to me - as a music therapist, it is a lifestyle.
