About me:
Hi! My name is Meagan Hughes. I am a Board Certified Music Therapist and Teaching Artist, specializing in voice, guitar, piano and West African percussion. I have served a wide variety of populations, including at-risk communities, terminally ill patients, and children with autism. I have a BM in Music Therapy from the University of Minnesota, and trained at Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital and Clinics in San Francisco, CA.
What does music mean to you?
Music has been a part of my life since my earliest memories and continues to pervade and convey my thoughts and feelings in a more acute way at times than I can strive to communicate through other avenues.
Why is the music-based service movement important to you?
A forum to connect those around the country (and world!) who are passionate about music and service has the potential to elevate so many others in the process.

UCSF Child Life Dept. (SF Unified School District hospital classrooms for inpatient and outpatient child populations), Laguna Honda Hospital
My service mission:
Deliver Music Therapy services and music instruction to chronically/terminally ill child and adult patients (1:1, small group, classroom); Performances for hidden audiences (hospitals, shelters, etc.); Implement community service projects with SF Unified School District youth serving UCSF and Laguna Honda.
