About me:

Roger Kim is jazz guitarist and composer playing in several groups around the bay area. He recently graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in music and business administration.

What does music mean to you?

Music is a means of communication. It is a language that is at once more specific and yet more universal compared to a language structured by words, grammar and definitions. Words cannot evoke the same emotions that music can express so clearly.

Why is the music-based service movement important to you?

Music is universal in that everybody likes music and listens to it regularly; however, I feel that not enough people fully appreciate the power that music can have. Music-based service projects help bring this understanding to other people by demonstrating the things that music can do outside of most people's day to day lives.
