Profile Information

About me:
I have a BA in Philosophy, am a Pre-K teacher until noon, K PE coach in the afternoons, and a private music tudor after school at Destin Elementary. My subject area is music K-12.
I am a published composer, author, and jazz bassist. My wife is a drummer and bassist and performs regularly with her girlfriends as "The Sweater Puppets."
What does music mean to you?
Discovering musical abilities at the age of 17 guided and shaped my life by putting me in the places I needed to be, introducing me to the people I needed to meet (including my wife,) and bringing purpose, direction, and fulfillment.
Why is the music-based service movement important to you?
Our County's school music programs are threatened once again, It is good to see that there is a new program which recognizes the vital importance music plays in our societal and private lives -particularly that of our young children.
My school, Destin Elementary, possibly will not have a music nor an art program next year (from our last staff meeting.)
So the scramble begins to fill in the money hole for our school's already struggling program. Our school's kids are SO HUNGRY for in-depth music education, yet we endeavor to keep a base program alive; much less an orchestra, or ensemble band.
Musical Interests
Composition, Performance, Promotion, Theory, Listening Appreciation
Musical Expertise
Percussion, String, Brass, Woodwind, Piano, Vocal
Where I serve:
I am a teacher with the Okaloosa County School District in the Florida Panhandle.
I am able to serve only in my local community, and the surrounding area.
My service mission:
I will help others in our area to develop and implement a community youth orchestra, jazz ensemble, and concert band for our K-6ish youth youth.

Hey Chad!!

My first comment is WELCOME! The second, is are you sure you discovered music, or did it discover you!? So happy to know that there are people such as yourself out there fighting for the artistic rights of our youth! Keep it up!
