The Center for Music National Service is looking for two new AmeriCorps*VISTA members to serve in their San Francisco HQ! The positions are for a Relationship Coordinator and Grant Writer and will start in August.

Development – Grant Writer
Position Duties:
MNS (San Francisco) is a fast-paced, campaign-like, creative work environment that seeks one dedicated VISTA member to perform a variety of tasks in Development, with a focus on Grant Writing, including:
- Researching and writing grants to support the expansion of MNS programs and initiatives.
- Assisting with MNS fundraising (executing individual donor campaigns, donor communications, campus and community outreach), sustainability planning (researching grant opportunities and developing strategic plans), and donor database development (data entry and tracking).
- Managing the organization’s calendar of proposals, reports, funding obligations, special events, publications and public outreach activities.
- Serving on inter-departmental teams, as needed, to develop proposals, reports, programs, program budgets and cross-departmental projects.
Position Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a creative self-starter who loves project management, is incredibly detail oriented, and follows through. Excellent communication skills are necessary as well as the ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without continuous supervision.
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in nonprofit development, including grant writing (government, foundation and corporate grants), prospect research, database management, budget preparation and nonprofit marketing.
- Solid references, as well as proven critical thinking abilities.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in music, community service, youth development and/or arts education a plus.
Development – Relationship Coordinator
Position Duties
MNS (San Francisco) is a fast-paced, campaign-like, creative work environment that seeks one dedicated VISTA member to perform a variety of tasks with a focus in key Relationship Outreach and Management, including:
- Work directly with CEO to plan and execute outreach meetings with partner organizations and individuals, both at MNS headquarters, and in other cities.
- Manage key relationships with donors, board members and other important stakeholders.
- Work with CEO to manage external portfolio, contacts, outreach, meetings, program updates, follow-up, etc. Manage data in Outlook and/or MNS’s Salesforce.com database.
- Work closely with interdepartmental teams on special projects, events and fundraising campaigns.
- Prepare and organize reports, correspondence, grant follow-up and other documents as requested.
- Draft/edit/proof correspondence, reports and spreadsheets.
- Write copy for marketing materials and create outreach packets for potential partners.
Position Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who loves project management, and has demonstrated attention to detail and decision-making skills in response to high-pressure situations. Excellent communication skills are necessary, as well as the ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without continuous supervision or structure. Flexibility and ability to handle a high volume of work with accuracy is a must.
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, advanced degree preferred.
- At least 1-2 years experience as an administrative assistant or outreach coordinator, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
- Superior skills with MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Superior calendar management skills including experience with Google Apps (e.g., Google Calendar, Google Docs).
- Solid references and writing skills.
- Experience in music, community service, youth development and/or arts education a plus.
Program Benefits for Both Positions: Monthly stipend of $1,326 (provided by AmeriCorps) plus a monthly living and housing allowance (provided by MNS), Choice of Education Award ($5,550.00) or End of Service Stipend, Health Coverage, Travel Mileage Reimbursement, Training/Professional Development.
Terms: Both positions begin August 22, 2011; Requires full time service without outside commitments.
